NARRATIVE DESIGN: Act.I The Introduction.
Continuing with the discussion of the narrative design in our game, in the Devlog we are going to talk about the first act of our game: Act. I Introduction.
As we mentioned in NARRATIVE DESIGN: General Overview, in this first act, the protagonists of the game are presented, it is stated that where they are it is not right in the place, and the call to adventure is answered.
Because the narrative system is non-linear, we decide to use a branching narrative system, with some bottlenecks to simplify the important narrative points, and unite the variety of options into a single point. This with the purpose of give the player freedom to choose, while at the same time, reaching common points that simplify the continuity of the history. In order to visualize this system, a twine document was made to see the branches of options and their common points. We also do as well a docx document for a more direct access to the lines of text.
At the moment of this devlog, the script of Act. I: Introduction is complete, and is implemented in the current version of our game.
